Bio
Welcome. This website is devoted to sharing all aspects of the magic that is collaborative, active, student-centered learning. Originally a Teach for America-trained teacher, I began my career convinced that the straightest path to student mastery was through the Madeline Hunter 7-step method. In 2010, however, I attended the Kagan Collaborative Learning Summer Academy -- and my practice completely changed. This website then, is to spread the word about student-centered learning and to provide as many concrete resources and strategies as possible to make collaboration thrive and to remind teachers why teaching can be magical.
I am currently a Literature and Composition teacher in Taichung, Taiwan. During my career I have also taught AP English, AP Language, American and British Literature, World Literature and a number of electives, including a film course, drama course and a comedy analysis course. I have served as the faculty advisor for the Upper School literary magazine, the co-advisor to the Writing Inquiry Center, and as an academic advisor to Upper School students.
